Late Nights: Sleep Sick

Chosen by Marianna Simnett, in Let’s Scare Jessica to Death (1971) a recently institutionalized woman has bizarre experiences after moving into a supposedly haunted country farmhouse and fears she may be losing her sanity once again.
With live music by Lucinda Chua & Marianna Simnett and a reading of All the Things in the House That Could Kill You by Charlie Fox.
From camp to cult to classic, this series of screenings feature rarely seen films and avant-garde shorts inspired by and of influence on artists Ericka Beckman and Marianna Simnett. Their work ventures from video games and fairy tales to shudder-inducing surgery, resulting in an eclectic mix for these Late Nights. This event will take place offsite at our partner venue Everyman Screen on the Green.
Lucinda Chua is a musician who lives in London. Her recent work includes a live cello session for Boiler Room, a sound installation performance at Nottingham Contemporary and new music made in collaboration with CY AN for Issue 3 of AVANTGarden magazine, concept by FKA Twigs and Oneohtrix Point Never. Her upcoming releases include a debut solo EP and the original soundtrack to the feature-documentary, ZONA. She regularly collaborates with artist Marianna Simnett.
Charlie Fox is a writer who lives in London. His book of essays, This Young Monster, published by Fitzcarraldo Editions, is out now.
Marianna Simnett is an artist living in London. Her work crosses many disciplines including film, music, performance and installation. She was the winner of the Jerwood/FVU Award in 2015 and shortlisted for the Jarman Award in 2017.
