Frightfest Preview: Tales of Halloween

Decent anthology horror films are normally quite tough to find, but you do get the occasional gem. Gareth Evans’ brilliant segment in V/H/S/2 is certainly one to remember, and Trick ‘r Treat has an incredibly loyal following to this day.  And if the hype that’s building around Tales of Halloween is anything to go by, we could have another cult classic in the offing.

Tales is a collection of 10 stories, all linked together by the simple theme of Halloween night in an American suburb. So already you can see the obvious comparison with Trick ‘r Treat! However we’re in no doubt that this will have it’s own merits. For starters, the list of directors is pretty eclectic in terms of style, featuring folk such as Neil Marshall (The Descent & Game of Thrones), Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, III & IV) and Mike Mendez (Big Ass Spider!).

Tales of Halloween is closing this years festival, and has all the hallmarks of being a crowd favourite.  Don’t miss this one.
