LHF: To Be a Bat

October 29 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Moi’s brother Jo is dead and they think it’s all their fault. In the aftermath, the dregs of their family drift into the uncanny, imagination overtaking reality. Each family member embarks on their own pursuit to hunt the ghosts of the ones they’ve lost, and maybe, possibly, even become who they want to be.

In a time where grief threads through our everyday experience, this original play highlights crucial observations on finding joy and our chosen selves amongst uncertain, unrelenting brutality. To Be a Bat offers a new imaginative vocabulary for loss and tells a fresh, essential story of evolving, fluid identities.

Through the bereavement of an ordinary family, the show explores unrealities of magical, corrosive grief, and queer coming of age fractured by loss. Featuring direction from Susie MacDonald (past work includes co-founding Elephant Talk Theatre), and music by international artist Zygmund de Somogyi, Distracted Rat is excited for their 4 show run at The Space.
