What Does Membership Get Me?
There are really two strands to our membership. Firstly, being a member gets you priority access to all of the events that we’ll be organising in the future. Secondly, we hope to be able to help members that work (or hope to work) in the horror industry find new projects. That also includes producers/directors that want to find people that specialise in specific areas of film making. See the About Us section for more details.
I’m Not Based In London, Is It Worth Me Joining?
Absolutely yes! We want as many people from everywhere in the world involved, so we can create a totally unique horror community. As we grow, events will start to pop up in areas where we have a high concentration of active members, so if people want us to do something near them, we can and will. It’s important to remember that this is YOUR community. So if you have ideas on how we can make the society better, then we’ll always be listening.
How Much Does Membership Cost?
Ordinary membership to The London Horror Society is free. From time to time, we may have to ask for a small entry fee to some of our events (only if you attend, of course), but that’s only if we have to make an outlay ourselves. We’re planning on organising plenty of free events though, so this will hopefully be a rare occurrence. And, just to be clear, we won’t be selling your data either to pay our bills. Your email address and any other details we keep on file will NEVER be sold. They will be stored safely and securely.
Will You Be Emailing Me?
We’ll email you as a member to inform you of any upcoming events that we have in the pipeline. We also have a regularly-released newsletter that will inform you of any new films and events that have been brought to our attention (in particular the films that you won’t hear about through the normal channels) that we think you all would like. We’ll also keep you in the loop on any other horror-based news that we think is relevant to you.
I Work In The Industry. How Can You Help?
When you sign up, you can tell us if you work in a certain area. This can be anywhere from a blogger or a make-up artist, to a film producer or a musician. Then, if someone looking for people working within your area approaches us, we can put them in touch. We want to make it possible for people working across the full spectrum of budgets to get access to really talented people, and in turn give really talented people the chance to work on some awesome projects.
