A new event has been added to our epic Halloween calendar, on Sunday 30th October. This time, it’s Bethnal Green’s turn to host what’s sure to be a very serious cabaret… for dead pop stars. Introducing PopSéance…
On Halloween’s Eve – when the wall between our world and the afterlife is at its thinnest, PopHorror will be hosting a very special evening where we bring beloved Pop Stars back – for one night only.
Master of the Macabre, Dusty Limits and his assistant, Canning Town’s most celebrated psychic kleptomaniac, Psychic Sandee, will be holding a séance and inviting the deceased icons of Pop to join us for one last performance.
They will be joined by a selection of top cabaret stars who will channel a host of deceased pop stars – think of it as “Stars in Their Eyes” from the other side (and we don’t mean ITV).
There may also, or course be some less welcome guests passing through – but what Halloween show isn’t improved by a mild sense of peril…?
PopSéance is perfect mix of morbid Victorian melodrama and camp, contemporary clairvoyancy for a fun crowd who like their Halloween fayre served chilled, with wit and glee. The theatricality won’t have any fourth wall as we involve the audience in our séance – inviting them to bring precious objects that may encourage the dead to visit them and schooling them in incantations and other tricks and treats.
Of course the journey back through the sequined veil can alter a Pop Icon – they may look or sound a little different, or present themselves to the guests in a way that we haven’t seen them before – such as mime, magic or drama – but we guarantee the pure essence of our returning Pop royalty will be clear for all to enjoy.
PopSéance is produced by PopHorror, the new night that mashes up Horror and Pop, hosted bi-monthly at the RVT. PopSéance delves one step further into the underworld and is a good-humoured celebration of the finest Pop talent that has departed this realm too soon.
